Bruce Hocking is the founder of the International Association of Electro
Therapeutic Point Stimulation Therapists, (I.A.E.T.P.S.T.) and the developer
of ETPSSM Neuropathic Therapy. This therapy
combines acupuncture and trigger points with radiculopathy, dermatomal
therapy, and structural realignment for a completely integrative approach
to chronic pain management.
Bruce started his journey after surviving two lower back operations.
Western medicine and traditional therapies offered no solutions to his
chronic pain. After desperately searching for some means of relief,
Bruce was introduced to microcurrent stimulation (the forefather of
ETPSSM) through a sympathetic relative. He
began experimenting with treating himself, and for the first time since
his back operations, he found relief from chronic pain.
Taking a completely new direction in his life based on the success
of this therapy, he then decided to educate himself in the field of
pain management in order to teach others. He first studied Classical
Acupuncture under Dr. Al McDowell, in Toronto, Canada in 1990. He then
studied in Southeast Asia in 1993-94, obtaining his Doctorate in Acupuncture.
In the fall of 1995, he continued his studies in Asia, and received
a Master's Degree in Alternative Medicine, (M.D.M.A.). His skills were
further enhanced when he was introduced to Dr. Chan Gunn's (IMS) Intramuscular
Therapy technique during an extensive teaching course in Vancouver and
Alberta. Inspired by his natural curiosity, Bruce started to experiment
with the integration of classical & anatomical acupuncture with
IMS, which eventually developed into today's ETPSSM
Therapy.

From 1996 until 2003, Bruce continued to combine structural realignment
techniques, myofascial release, Neural therapy, dermatomal therapy and
parasympathetic stimulation to further develop and enhance ETPSSM
Therapy outcomes. Today, ETPS is considered the world's first truly
integrative pain therapy designed to produce significant and long lasting
functional outcomes.
Bruce is the author of "Natural
Health Pain Management", "Natural
Health 2-Classical Acupuncture", and "Veterinary
Acupuncture", which are instructional guide books for ETPSSM;
protocols. He has written a chapter for the American
Academy of Pain Management's 6th Edition of Pain Management: A Practical
Guide for Physicians, 2001, and has also contributed articles for publications
such as Contact Magazine, GoodTimes, Canadian Doctor, and Physical Therapy
Today. He also developed hands-on workshop
courses to demonstrate this innovative form of pain therapy, and
teach therapists how to incorporate it into their current treatment
programs.
Bruce has been a special guest faculty member at Capital University
of Integrative Medicine in Washington, D.C., for 5 years. He advised
the Ontario Provincial Government Health Professionals Regulatory Advisory
Council for the Regulation of Acupuncture in 1998.
He currently instructs accredited post-graduate continuing education
courses throughout North America for Physical Therapists, Occupational
Therapists, Athletic Therapists, Chiropractors, Physicians, Massage
Therapists, Dentists, among other therapists.
